Cold Plunge Install Done Right

We can install any cold plunge on the market. Power, plumbing, setup, etc. We can even point you in the right direction for products!

Why Go With Us for a Plunge

The chiller is the whole product and it is the part nobody photographs. We size it to your tub volume, your target temperature and our actual summer heat load, then site it where it can breathe and where the compressor noise will not carry into a bedroom. Everything else, the framing, the waterproofing, the drainage and the electrical, stays with one licensed crew. We will also tell you frankly when a plunge is overkill for how you plan to train. Most plunges we fit end up beside a traditional sauna, and where there is no room indoors an outdoor cabin solves it. Planning both from the full service list beats retrofitting one later.

  • Cedar, fiberglass, or stainless construction
  • Cooling unit sized for valley summers, steady 39–55°F
  • Continuous treatment loop in place of daily chemicals
  • Circulation gear rated quiet enough for a bedroom wall
  • Patios, garages, pool decks, and interior rooms
  • Shares a pad with a sauna when you want both
  • California Class B license, fully insured and bonded

When You Need Cold Plunge Install

A plunge built the right way pays off when:

  • The ice routine has worn thin, between the grocery runs, the melting, and never hitting the same temperature twice.
  • You train and need the recovery half to actually happen. Cold works on sore legs when the water is waiting at the same temperature every morning.
  • You want to alternate heat and cold, with both sides holding their setpoint.
  • You are already redoing the yard or the pool deck, so the trenching is open anyway.
  • You want a number you can set instead of whatever a bag of ice gives you that morning.
  • You want clean water every day without babysitting chemicals.
  • The location is awkward: a slab garage, a shaded side yard, or a finished room where load and sound both matter.
  • You want something integrated, rather than a livestock trough parked against the fence.

Nodding along to two or three? Then the math works out quickly. Call and we will tell you honestly what your spot and your budget will support. Call: 408-617-8448

When You Need Cold Plunge Install

How We Work

From the first drawing to your first steam, the plan stays clear and the price stays set.

1. Start with the location

Everything follows from where the tub goes. A shaded side yard, a garage bay, the edge of a pool deck, a patio off the kitchen: each answers the drainage question, the equipment-placement question, and the circuit-run question differently. Shade carries real weight in this climate, since a tub baking from noon to six forces the cooling unit to run hard for months. We also want your target temperature and how many mornings a week you expect to use it.

2. Spec the equipment to the heat load

The parts nobody looks at are the parts that decide whether you like the thing. Cooling capacity gets matched to water volume, setpoint, and a valley July, so pull-down is quick and the hold is steady. Treatment runs continuously, which keeps the water clear without a daily routine. Circulation gear is chosen for its noise rating, because a plunge that buzzes through a bedroom wall stops getting used.

3. One crew, start to commissioning

Framing, waterproofing, electrical, and finish carpentry are all in house under our California Class B license, so there is one number to call and no seam between trades. Commissioning closes it out: pressure-test the plumbing, dial in the setpoint, program the sanitation cycle, and show you what upkeep looks like week to week. The tub is cold and usable when we drive away.

Plunge Options

Tub material

Cedar for warmth and looks, fiberglass for easy cleaning and lower cost, stainless or powder-coated steel for a modern architectural look. All three work; the choice is aesthetic and budget.

Chiller sizing

The specification that matters most. We calculate from volume, setpoint and local summer ambient, then leave headroom so the unit is not running flat out in August.

Water treatment

Ozone, UV or mineral systems with inline filtration, so the water stays clear for weeks and you are not handling chemicals before dawn.

Sauna pairing

Designing the plunge and the sauna together so the walk between them is short and the trench, permit and crew are shared across both.

What Affects the Cost of Cold Plunge Install

A handful of choices set the budget on a plunge:

  • The tub itself. Steel runs highest, fiberglass sits in the middle, and cedar depends on the grade of wood you pick.
  • The cooling unit. A small one handles a one-person plunge. Colder water, a bigger tub, or a sunny spot needs more unit and more power.
  • Where it goes. An outdoor pad is simple. Garages, finished rooms, and pool decks need more drain, weight, and access work.
  • Water treatment. Spending more here at the start is what keeps the weekly routine down to a few minutes.
  • Site work. Power, plumbing, drains, waterproofing, and any decking all add to the total.
  • Pairing it with heat. A sauna alongside reshapes the layout and spreads the site work across both.

We price it line by line once we have walked the spot and heard how often you plan to use it. The number you sign is the number you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How cold does it get, and will it hold in July?

Yes, as long as the cooling unit is sized for our summers, which is how we spec it. Pick any temperature between 39 and 55°F and it holds all day, right through a heat wave. You set it once and step in cold every morning.

Is a plunge worth it on its own?

A plunge stands on its own as a recovery tool, and plenty of our clients never add heat. The pairing is popular enough that we usually ask, though, because designing both at once beats retrofitting one later.

What does maintenance actually involve?

Less than people expect, and nothing like hauling ice. Treatment and filtration hold the water clear on their own, so you are left with a quick look and an occasional top-off. We configure it and walk you through the weekly check.

Will one work in a garage or beside the pool?

Yes. We build on patios, in garages, beside pools, and inside finished rooms. Each has its own weight, drain, and noise needs, so we plan the build and pick the filter around your spot.

What license do you carry?

We are. San Jose Sauna carries a California Class B license and full insurance and bonding. Framing, waterproofing, electrical, and finish carpentry all stay in house, so nobody is pointing fingers when a detail goes sideways.
