How We Work
From the first drawing to your first steam, the plan stays clear and the price stays set.
1. Enclosure design
We plan the footprint, the bench, the door and the ceiling slope, then specify the generator by enclosure volume and finish material. Stone and glass demand noticeably more output than acrylic.
2. Waterproofing and rough-in
The pan, membrane and substrate go in as a continuous system, with a fall to the drain and a sloped ceiling. We run the steam line, the drain and the power, then flood-test before anything is tiled.
3. Tile, glass and commissioning
Tile, a sealed glass door, the steam head placed away from where you sit, and controls at a sensible height. Then we run it, check for cold spots and hand it over.

Generator sizing
Undersized generators are the most common complaint. We calculate from cubic volume, then add for tile, stone or glass surfaces, which absorb heat far faster than acrylic panels.
Sloped ceilings
A ceiling pitched a couple of degrees sends condensate down a wall rather than onto the person below. It is a small detail that decides whether the room is pleasant.
Aromatherapy and controls

Steam shower conversions

What Affects the Cost of Steam Saunas
What moves the cost of a steam build:
- Enclosure size, which sets generator output and material quantities.
- Waterproofing scope. A new pan and membrane cost more than upgrading a sound existing shower.
- Finish material. Natural stone is beautiful, heavier on the generator and more expensive to seal.
- Generator location and the steam line run, plus the power it needs.
- Glass. A properly sealed frameless enclosure is a significant line item.
- Controls and extras such as aromatherapy, lighting and audio.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a steam room and a dry sauna?
Temperature and humidity, and they trade off against each other. A dry sauna runs 170 to 195 degrees at low humidity. A steam room runs around 110 to 120 degrees at close to 100 percent humidity. Steam feels hotter than the thermometer suggests and is usually easier on the airways. Construction differs completely: one needs breathable timber, the other needs a fully sealed waterproof envelope.
Can you convert my existing shower into a steam room?
Often, yes. The enclosure needs a sealed door, a ceiling low and sloped enough to work, a sound vapor barrier and somewhere within reach for the generator. We inspect what is behind the tile before quoting, because a marginal existing waterproofing job is not worth building on.
Where does the steam generator go?
In a dry, accessible space within roughly twenty five feet of the room: a linen cupboard, a vanity base, a garage wall or an attic. It needs power and a drain line, and it needs to stay reachable for servicing.
How much upkeep does a steam room need?
Flush the generator on the schedule the maker sets, which matters here because our water is hard and scale is the main enemy. Wipe the enclosure down and let it dry between uses. We include a flush and inspection in the annual care plan.
