How We Work
From the first drawing to your first steam, the plan stays clear and the price stays set.
1. Site visit and drawings
We come out, measure, and ask how you plan to use it. Then you get a drawing, help picking the wood and heater, and a clear picture of how the room will look and feel. If your yard bakes all afternoon, we work out the shade right there on paper.
2. Sizing, sealing, and permits
We match the heater to the room and set the rocks and vents so the heat lands even. We seal the walls the right way. Plenty of valley homes still run an older panel, so we check your power early. Then we file with the city and book the inspections so nothing stalls.
3. Build, commission, hand over
Framing through finish is ours: heater set and tested, glass hung, benches fitted, lighting trimmed out, every interior board scribed and fastened. The last hour on site goes to bringing the room up to temperature with you standing in it, plus a short lesson on upkeep, which counts for more in air this dry than it would on the coast.
When You Need Custom Sauna Design & Installation
A custom sauna makes sense when a boxed kit will not do the job:
- Your space is odd, like half a garage, a spare room on a slab, a narrow side yard, or a deck on a slope.
- You want the sauna to open toward your pool, your patio, or the hills, and to sit right in the yard.
- Appearance counts. You want something that reads as part of the house, not a prefab box parked on the lawn.
- You want soft, heavy steam, which depends on stone mass, vent placement, and heater sizing.
- It is a commercial room for a gym, spa, hotel, or office and will run all day.
- Your house is an Eichler or an older ranch, where flat roofs, glass walls, and thin framing need a builder who plans ahead.
- You are already remodeling, so the walls are open and the timing is good.
- You will use it a few times a week, so it has to work well and hold up.

What Affects the Cost of Custom Sauna Design & Installation
No two saunas cost the same. These are the things that move the price most:
- Where it goes and how big. Carving a hot room out of an existing wall is the cheapest path. A freestanding cabin out back needs concrete, a trenched circuit, and a roof, and it prices accordingly.
- Wood. Some woods cost more for how they look, how they smell, and how they hold up in dry heat.
- Heater and controls. Electric, wood-fired, and steam heaters all price out differently, and some homes need a panel upgrade first.
- Glazing and lighting. Full glass fronts, view windows, and recessed fixtures each add to the total.
- Building work. New pads, framing, vents, drains, and old wiring all add up.
- Permits. City fees track the size of the job, and we handle the paperwork.
Once the site visit and the drawings are done, one figure covers design, materials, labor, and permit fees. It does not move afterward.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a custom sauna take?
Four to eight weeks is typical, measured from approved drawings to first heat. Freestanding backyard cabins run longer, and a straightforward interior conversion can beat it. You get a dated schedule before we mobilize.
Will a sauna fit in an awkward spot?
Yes. That is the point of going custom. We have built into garages, spare bedrooms, side yards, and pool decks. After we measure, we will tell you what fits.
Indoors or outdoors in this climate?
Both work here. An outdoor sauna gets the most use in fall and winter, and an indoor room is easy to use in July when it is 100 degrees outside. Plenty of clients go outdoor and add shade. We will help you choose.
Do you handle permits and HOA rules?
Yes. We file with the city, book the inspections, and build to code. If your neighborhood has an HOA, we put together the drawings they ask for too.
Will the steam be any good?
Yes, and this is what most saunas get wrong. Real steam needs enough rocks, a heater sized to the room, and vents in the right spots. We plan all three from the start.
